Improve your Fieldwork Grade

There are 5 Sections, each worth 6 marks:-

Applied Understanding

Methodology

Data presentation

Data Intrepretation

Evaluation

TO IMPROVE APPLIED UNDERSTANDING….. make sure that you have used keywords throughout your work in all sections.

….. make sure that you have described where Dovedale is.

….. and how the location of Dovedale causes pressure on itself, so that it needs to be carefully managed.

TO IMPROVE YOUR METHODOLGY…..

…..to get full marks…. you must do a THIRD HYPOTHESIS.

However, by describing each of the 5 things that you did on the fieldtrip and by explaining why you did them…. for example, what you hoped to find out by doing them…..you can get 4 marks out of 6.

TO IMPROVE YOUR DATA PRESENTATION…..

…..make sure that you have used 2 different ICT methods so that you can get 3-4marks.  These can be text, downloaded pictures, or graphs you have produced.

To get 5-6 marks…. try putting 2 sets of data on one graph…..

…. or put graphs onto a map, using arrows to show where the data was actually collected…..

….. use scattergraphs, not forgetting Best-Fit Lines…..

….. make sure all your graphs have titles and each axis has a label.

 TO IMPROVE YOUR DATA INTERPRETATION…..

…..for 3-4 marks (grade D/C)…..

…..Use numbers from graphs and questionnaire data in your explainations.

…..for 5-6 marks….. you need detailed explaining….suggest 2 or 3 reasons rather than just 1…..

……convert your questionnaire results into %’s and use those in your reasons…..

…..comment on data that is a significant result….

….. comment on data that is NOT significant……

…..possibly explain why things have not happened as you first expected.  E.g anomalies, rogue points etc.

TO IMPROVE YOUR EVALUATION…..

….for 1-2 marks…..

…..suggest simple improvements

for 3-4 marks….

…..suggest improvements, but be more specific about these.  E.g write actual questions that could be used on the Questionnaire,  for example.

….. how might bias/errors with your methods affect your results?  Make comments about these.

For 5-6 marks….

Do all of the above BUT…..

…..make comments about how this bias/error makes your hypotheses appear…..

…..make comments about how valid your conclusions might be because of this bias or error….

…..try to explain why your conclusions may or may not be correct.
